First Dance Song Suggestions

January 28, 2010 | Music, Uncategorized

The first dance as husband and wife is a very important part of the entire wedding celebration. The song has to be meaningful and significant for both the bride and groom. Couples usually opt for the song that describes their relationship with each other; some go for the song that was playing the first time they kissed, or even as far as the first time they met. However, for those who cannot come up with anything just yet, here are a few ideas. These are just samples; you can totally come up with your own. In fact, it’s better if you do. It would be nice, though, to listen to some of these while you’re thinking of your song to serve as inspiration.

  • It Had To Be You – Harry Connick, Jr,
  • Chances Are – Johnny Mathis
  • Don’t Know Much – Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville
  • Only You Can Love Me This Way – Keith Urban
  • Everything – Michael BublĂ©

How to Choose Your Wedding Music

January 22, 2010 | 5K Weddings DIY, Music

If you’ve decided to play your own wedding music instead of hiring a band to play, it actually saves you a lot of money. But choosing which songs to play and when they should be played is something you should definitely consider – and here are a few tips to help you get started.

  • Music will need to be played during the wedding itself and the reception, so you need to keep that in mind.

  • If you are having a themed wedding, make sure you choose music that matches.

  • Check with your officiant if there are any guidelines you need to follow when playing music during the ceremony itself, especially if you are having a church wedding. Your officiant may have plenty of songs to suggest, too!

  • During the reception or your first dance as husband and wife, choose a wedding song with great lyrics to dance to. In this way, you’ll enjoy every step as you and your partner dance to the meaningful lyrics.

  • You should also choose relaxing songs that will set the mood for your guests during the reception. You can also choose to insert some of you and your husband’s favorite songs every now and then.

How to Save on Wedding Entertainment

July 29, 2009 | Music, Uncategorized

Keeping your wedding guests entertained is just as important as making sure that they’re well fed during the reception. The music that is played during the reception sets the mood for the entire event. Here are some tips on saving on your wedding entertainment:

  • If your brother has a band or if you know a friend who does, ask them to play for your wedding instead of hiring a professional band. They’ll most probably agree to play for free.
  • Enlist a local college bands or musician.  Hiring them to play for your wedding would definitely cost a lot less compared to hiring a professional band.
  • You also have the option to hire a DJ. Just make sure that you do serious searching for a DJ that will play great music and not just jump onto the first one available. Give the DJ an idea of what mood you’d like the music to be during the reception.
  • If a DJ, a local band, or a relative’s band doesn’t work out, you can always opt to rent speakers or use your own during the reception and play your own set of CDs or IPod. You’ll have full and absolute control of the music that will be played during the reception. Also ask your fiance for the songs he’d like to be played as well.  More grooms are presenting their music choice which ensures that both the bride and the groom’s are happy!
